Activities of the Priamursk district administration of the Russian Red Cross society for assistance to the population (1855 – 1916)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the questions of activity of the Priamursk district administration of the Russian society of the Red Cross. Its structure, personnel, financial sources are shown. The role of the Priamursk committee of the Russian society of the Red Cross on assistance to the needing population in a peace time is revealed, and also the attention to the work of society in military years is paid, to creation of the Aleksandro-Ksenyevka and Blagoveshchensk Vladivostok communities of sisters of RSRC. Such forms of work, as: preparation of nursing staff; opening of medical institutions, almshouses; organization of collecting donations, etc. are considered. On the basis of archival sources material about activity of the Priamursk district administration of the Russian society of the Red Cross in the days of Russian-Japanese and World War I is most widely presented. In the war zones the overland hospital was developed, the landmark infirmary of the Red Cross is organized and sent to the Western front, the points of shelter and rest, medical and nutritious points are equipped, in Harbin and Mukden dental surgeries are open. One of the most difficult tasks which are carried out in the years of Russian-Japanese war – evacuation of patients and wounded was solved.
