The press of the Far East during the wartime on labor heroism in the Far East during the Second World War

Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of the press in the organization and coverage of socialist competition during the Great Patriotic War. The basic directions of propagandistic and organizational impact on the labor activity in the Far East are revealed in the examples of particular newspaper articles. A variety of forms and methods of work of the press in covering the events of labor collectives for the fulfillment and over-fulfillment of state tasks in extreme conditions of wartime have been analyzed. The results of the research allow to make an impression on the work of journalists in the Far East and to assess the effective role of the press in uncovering the labor achievements of workers of the Far East during the war. Through the analysis of newspapers‘ activity the authors reveal patriotic initiative - initiative of the masses - that manifested itself in new forms of work such as ten-day (desyatniki), month-long (mesyachniki), the movements of the centurions (sotniki) and thousanders (tysyachniki), overfulfilling the normatives in mastering related professions. The publication of newspapers on the subject contained a deeper meaning, symbolizing the unity of the front and the rear.
