The article analyzes and assesses the efforts of some subjects of the Russian Federation to develop tourism on its territory. The subject of study of this publication is the efforts of the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to realize the tourist potential of the respective regions. The main focus is on the natural objects of the display, which each of the regions considered has. The regional target programs and their main results, which can be judged on the level of tourism development, are considered. To achieve this goal, the authors used a comparative and comparative analysis, for some of the assessment of some indicators, data from a retrospective analysis was involved. The conclusion is made about the possibilities of the considered regions for the development of tourism, taking into account the already existing objects of display and plans to implement projects in the field of tourism based on natural attractions. The results of the research undertaken may be of interest in the development of targeted programs and projects in the field of tourism at the regional level, as well as in the implementation of integration tourism projects based on interregional cooperation and cooperation. The authors have to admit that despite the huge natural potential for the development of tourism, there are still many problems associated primarily with the weak development of infrastructure, the need to adjust and update the strategies and programs of the regions in the field of tourism. Only with the direct participation of the authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation can we expect the full realization of the tourist potential.
