The article considers the interconnection between the financial sector development and economic growth (finance-growth nexus). The analysis of existing hypotheses on the topic is carried out. As a result the author noticed the absence of similar researches for the regional systems. In this regard an attempt to find out the connection between the bank and real economy sectors in the Russian regions is made. The author made the assessment of this connection in dynamics and by the method of econometric modeling.
