The article describes the different approaches to the definition of "timber industry." The current conditions and development trends Khabarovsk Territory’s forest sector as an object of the regional industrial and trade policies are characterized on basis of the analysis of statistical data.
The necessity of an integrated approach to the development and implementation of the industrial and the trade policies is substantiated in the article. The factors of imbalance in industrial and trade policies in the forest sector are shown. The scenarios of development of the forest sector and the possibilities to pursue the industrial and the trade policies in the forest sector after joining the World trade organization are described.
