Methodology for Estimating the Gross Municipal Product Accounting for Economic Structure

Abstract

This article presents a methodology for rapid assessment of the gross municipal product (GMP) accounting for the economic structure based on open data, which can be used for forecasting purposes. The relevance of this study is determined by absence of the offi GMP estimates in the state statistical observation system amid the growing need to measure the level of economic development of municipalities for strategic purposes planning. Methodological limitations of existing approaches to assessing the gross product at the municipal level are analyzed, related to insuffi statistical data and restrictions on its public disclosure. This methodology was testedusing the example of selected cities in the Far-Eastern federal district and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
